Sloping Public Seating

The People's Bench by Anonymous Studio is Based on Confucianism

The People's Bench is an inviting public seat that is inspired by the Confucius philosophical system, specifically its teachings on bettering oneself. Although this may not be apparent to the casual observer, the shape of the People's Bench is based off of the Chinese character '人,' which means people. By interacting with others in a peaceful and relaxed way, betterment is a natural consequence.

Designed by Anonymous Studio, the People's Bench has been installed throughout the national parks of Singapore. Through its expansive form, it can comfortably fit two to three people in a reclined position. According to the designers, "The name is a play on the Chinese phrase '做人' symbolizing to conduct oneself with integrity."
