Sushi-Mimicking River Boats

The Osaka Canvas Project Turned a River Into a Conveyor Belt of Sushi

The Osaka Canvas Project created this unique display of parade-like sushi floats. Dishes of favored sushi eats have been transformed into boat structures that will float along the the Osaka river as if on a gigantic sushi conveyor belt.

As part of the Osaka Canvas Project, this artistic display is titled 'Rolling Sushii' and it aims to represent the vast amount of culinary cuisine offered by Osaka. Each floating plate of sushi begins as a plain white disc with a colorful rim. Atop the large plates, workers recreated popular sushi dishes. From rolls to sashimi, each dish looks good enough to eat.

This tribute to Osaka is a clever way to honor the place where the conveyor belt sushi restaurants were first created. The oversized floating plates of sushi will be traveling the Tombori Riverwalk from October 3rd to October 4th 2015.
