City-Measuring Installations

The 'Oh My Cad' Installation Show the Distances Between Buildings

'Oh My CAD' is an architectural installation that is set up in Greece by the creative group 'Beforelight.' Along the Filikis Eterias Street in Thessaloniki, 'Beforelight' put up lights to spell out the measurements of the distances between elements of the street.

It is true that our experience of a city is based on its negative spaces -- the way we travel through it is by sidewalks, alleyways and other passageways. This idea is illustrated quite literally by transforming the city into a living set of architectural drawings. Alike a set of blueprints, 'Beforelight' chose a blue-colored light to drive home this association.

The unique installation makes people look up and become aware of their surroundings, creating a distinct landmark within the city of Thessaloniki.
