The O.A.S.E. Medical Library is a stunning organic structure that looks as though it has thick streams of water running down its crisp white facade. Colloquially called the Oasis, which is a play on the building's proper acronym, the design appears to take note of this name progression. Located in Düsseldorf, Germany, it is an architectural oasis in the middle of a monotonous grey urban setting.
Recently completed by HPP Architects, the O.A.S.E. Medical Library is part of the Heinrich Heine University and the University Clinic. The fluid feature of the glass strips that wind its way down the outside of the building is mimicked in the flowing open spatial concept of the interior. Not only is the O.A.S.E. Medical Library comprised of typical library facilities, it also houses generous public and exhibition areas.
