Cross-Cultural Pavilions

The Nordic Pavilion Shows African Independence

Usually one would not associate a Nordic Pavilion with that of Africa, but for the Venice Biennale for Architecture this is exactly what the nordic countries did.

According to DesignBoom, "the pavilion brings light to the fact that the progress made by Tanzania, Kenya, and Zambia after their liberation in the 1960s was achieved with help from nordic countries." The pavilion is set up as an art gallery, with various pieces found throughout the design. Some areas are set up as more confined spaces, with others taking the more spacious route. All sections move visitors through the relationship between the nordic countries and the continent of Africa, and how the two histories have intersected in the past. This is one of the many pavilions on display at the gathering. Photo Credits: designboom, labiennale.org
