Design Museum offers blind and partially blind guests to partake in museum tours through excursions called 'touch tours.' The tours are free for all guests and allow interaction between the art displays and the guests.
Each tour consists of a tour guide and a group of people. The groups contain two to six guests, which allows for a very personalized experience. Each museum tour lasts an hour and a half and provides guests with full access to the Design Museum.
Through the act of touching and feeling the art, as well as being guided through the museum with vocal aids, each guest can experience the amazing installations. There is an increased amount of vocal communication and conversational interaction between the tour guide and guests to ensure the guests are provided with complete details and are fully informed on each piece of artwork they encounter on their tour.
