British design studio Moxon Architects repurposes a small cluster of farm buildings that were first designed during the 19th century. It is found in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and now functions as a guesthouse, private artist's studio, and glass house.
The studio explains that the material choices were what defined the design cluster with oak as the guesthouse interior, timber for the glasshouse, and more. Founder of Moxon Architects Ben Addy explains, "It is a testament to the robustness and resilience of the historic buildings that this is a project characterized by retention and repair. Where there are new interventions, they are modest yet highly crafted, and seek to emulate the craft, form, and rigor of the 170-year-old architectural fabric."
