Geologically Inspired Museum Designs

Ennead Architects Reveal the Milwaukee Public Museum Design

The design for the Milwaukee Public Museum in Wisconsin has been revealed and it boasts two distinguishable concrete and rounded volumes that are interconnected in the middle. Located in the city's Haymarket neighborhood, the structure will definitely stand out with its striking visual appeal. The structure was envisioned by New York studio Ennead Architects who drew inspiration from the area's geological formations, more specifically those of Mill Bluff State Park. The firm embarked on this project with architect-of-record Kahler Slater.

The Milwaukee Public Museum now has design elements that reference erosion and weathering. Ennead Architects and Kahler Slater strategically implement large glass windows at the base of the structure and intermittently throughout the rest of the facade to allow the influx of natural light.
