Local architect Rozana Montiel breathes life into a four-bedroom Mexican house in Tepoztlán. The structure successfully finds a balance between wood and stone. The Albino Ortega House boasts an artisan flair since the materials are locally sourced. The stone facade, which is repetitiously exposed in outdoor and indoor spaces, is Texcal stone.Through material selection, Rozana Montiel is able to curate a natural connection between the man-made environment and the existing exuberant vegetation.
The garden is highlighted by the layout of the Mexican house, which encompasses it so that it is a secluded and relaxing spot. The presence of water is also accentuated, as the architectural practice has integrated pools and other elements both inside and outside of the house, ultimately "refreshing" the spaces and "filling them with air and sound."
