Soft Stony Surfaces

The Materia Lasca Tables Serve Up Rounded Solutions to Rigid Furnishings

Too many creatives have this idea that tables have to be made as if from whittled away rectangular blocks, but the Materia Lasca Tables present a solution conceived outside of the box.

Designer Marco Sousa Santos infused a collection of smoothly contoured pieces on which to place things in a way that few moveables can match. The supple structures that make up these organic-shaped ottomans are made from dark agglomerated cork, and topped with a lacquered MDF surface which offers a stiff and level and top side. These inflated pebble furnishings are fit for setting down items like books, TV remotes and even food and drinks, with little risk of them being knocked over. Escaping from the inflexibility of the standard eating surface, these Materia Lasca Tables will lighten up your living spaces like unexpectedly soft stones.
