Japanese design label Maruni worked alongside two designers -- James Morrison and Naoto Fukasawa -- to craft two comfort-centric wooden chairs. The two seating pieces will be showcased at this year's Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan. Maruni describes the two chairs as comfortable pieces that express the different perspectives of the two collaborative designers.
Fukasawa, who is also the art director of Maruni, crafted an armchair complete with a backrest, armrests and a seat constructed from a single piece of laminated plywood. The name of his collaborative chair is 'Roundish' due to the fluidity of the entire piece. The plywood is twisted and bent in three different ways in order to produce an enveloping sculptural seat.
Morrison's wooden chair titled 'Fugu' is constructed from solid oak wood and finished with a curved seat, backrest and armrests.
