VATRAA Converted an Art Studio into a Modern Home

VATRAA, an architecture studio split between London and Bucharest, recently completed a project that entailed turning a former artist's studio into a cozy, beautiful, light-filled home. Located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the firm had to work with an already existing building that included "an open ground floor and a mezzanine." VATRAA's main architectural objective was to strategically increase the floor plan of the space in order for it to suit the new purposes. While planning this, the design practice was mindful of maximizing the influx of natural light into indoor spaces. VATRAA created 77 additional square meters by adding a slick extension. Incorporating a source of natural light through the glazed roof also adds functionality, as well as an airy aesthetic to the beautiful light-filled home.
