Life Equals is Partnered with Vitamin Angels to Fight Undernutrition

A few weeks ago, Social Business profiled Build Nutrition, a one-for-one prenatal vitamins company. In the same vein is Life Equals, a for-profit social business that, like Build Nutrition, is partnered with Vitamin Angels, an organization that aims to reduce global child mortality. For every product sold by Life Equals, the Kansas City-based company will donate the same amount of children’s vitamins to an undernourished child.

Founded in 2009 by friends Graham Ripple, Kyle and Abigail FitzGerald, the goal of Life Equals was to create a convenient product that is able to give energy and focus without the unnecessary sugar and calories. This, in turn, created the specialty supplement ‘LIFE= Focus+Energy,’ the first of many Life Equals products. Other products include women's and men's multivitamins, LIFE= Calm+Serene, LIFE= Herbal Blend, LIFE= Fish Oil and women's and men's apparel. After the initial LIFE= Focus+Energy product, one of the next innovations in the trajectory of the company was the LIFE=LIFE Project, which harnesses one-for-one giving because, in their own words, "A better you creates a better world."

The 2008 Copenhagen Consensus concluded that micronutrient supplements are an essential aid in solving children’s malnutrition worldwide. While the argument remains that multivitamins cannot exist as a substitute for fresh and safe food products, Life Equals is one initiative that wishes to create a healthy future.
