Lambeth Palace is Getting Its First Addition in Nearly 200 Years

Lambeth Palace is a historic building in the UK that houses the Archbishop of Canterbury, the most important religious figure in the country. While the Palace is an important piece of the UK's collective history, even the most historic buildings need to respond and adapt to modern needs. As such, the palace is receiving a new addition, the first such project in nearly 200 years.

The addition will be to the Lambeth Palace Library. Designed by London-based Wright & Wright Architects, the new library will be a modernist structure that references the architectural past of the surrounding Lambeth Palace grounds with its red brick facade.

Considering that the Lambeth Library has been open to the public since 1610, it's about time that the ancient building received a makeover.
