On display now at the London Design Festival is the Keiichi Matsuda Prism. This incredible art installation is impressive to behold, especially considering the crazy location it has been placed.
Viewers climb up a steep little stairwell to get to the dome of the V&A Museum that isn't usually open to the public. At the top of the narrow staircase is a giant prism-like structure made from Japanese paper. Each part of the prism has data visualizations about London displayed on it. Examples include the level of the River Thames, the energy use at 10 Downing Street, and wind speed and direction. The visualizations change continuously, meaning that the piece is different depending on when you see it.
Matsuda says that the material for his Prism has to be winched from the museum lobby through a 4-meter hole which goes into the dome where the Prism lies now.
