The Jessica Stockholder 'Color Jam' instalment is the largest (and certainly most bold) art project to be displayed publicly in downtown Chicago.
Approved by the 'Chicago Loop Alliance,' this 3-D painting will be viewable to all until September 30, 2012. The color that commands the pavement is extended up the buildings at all three of the four intersection corners. With the blue, green and red-toned art seemingly spilling out windows, out of doors and onto crosswalks, this magnificent display is a grand spectacle for any passing pedestrian or overhead plane.
I cannot decide whether the exhibit will slow down awestruck traffic enough so that the intersection becomes safer to pass through, or if it will be so distracting that the crossroad will become a black-zone for accidents. Photo Credits: designboom, designboom
