Jeremy Mann Creates a Series of Gloomy Urban Lanscapes with Oil Paint

These dreadfully dreary urban lanscape paintings are the work of San Francisco painter Jeremy Mann.

The paintings themselves look almost like Gotham City (from Batman) due to their moody depiction of popular American cities. Every painting looks like it's capturing an urban environment in the thick of a torrential downpour. This effect is achieved by Jeremy Mann's use of solvents to wipe away paint. He paints large and broad and then wipes away strips of paint to create a dreary look. Also contributing to this look is the fact that most of the paintings show cities at night and even the ones that are during the day show gray skies.

The work of Jeremy Mann is now showing at John Pence Gallery in downtown San Francisco.
