Juxtaposing Matter Abodes

The House with a Wooden Skin Uses Contrasting Materials

Located in the sunny locale of Cyprus, the House with a Wooden Skin uses two main materials for its makeup: wood and stone. While very different, the matter works well together and provides an interesting juxtaposition.

The house is located on a serious slant too, making it slightly difficult for the architecture firm VARDAstudio to come up with a design that works in the area. However, the team managed to put the house together with not too many difficulties. Inside, a very open concept was used throughout most of the abode, with large, high ceilings and a well-spaced living room. The interaction between inside and outside is close, with many doors and windows opening up to nature. This was an important part of the design, as the owners wanted to ensure they were not cut off from the outside world.
