Spaciously Recovered Residences

House 1005 Corrects a Faulty Floor Plan

Stephenson ISA Studio redesigned an existing family home, titled 'House 1005,' in Manchester, England.

The client bought the original home for its amazing location next to the center of Worsley in west Manchester. The home is large, but loses space with an inefficient floor plan that literally and figuratively "cuts corners." The architects sought to recover this lost space in order to make the most of the home's expanse.

The client wished to have a family home characterized by quality design and flexibility. The architect changed and expanded the home in relation to these wishes, while continuing to consider the context of the site. The finished product is contemporary, sleek and valuable in terms of space -- perfect for a young family.
