'Evolution Design' has refurbished this rustic chapel home and transformed it into a rustic contemporary home that still pays tribute to its rich heritage.
Located in the countryside by Forest-in-Teesdale, England, the 'Chapel on the Hill' had actually fallen into a state of disrepair and damage until it was recently revitalized. The interior was given a clean and contemporary makeover, but the designer still maintained gothic-inspired touches of the original structure like arched windows and exposed wooden trusses.
This home chapel features a living room, kitchen, bathroom and can comfortably sleep seven people at any given time. To help accommodate this floor plan, a second level mezzanine was added for two of the three bedrooms on site. On the outside of the chapel, the original stone exterior was maintained, and skylights were put into the roof to help let natural sunlight flood inside the space.
