Buzz Designs the Hermit Space Yards in Beijing Park

Architecture studio Buzz creates the Hermit Space for Beijing MAHA Arts Center in China. This space is multidisciplinary, hosting events, activities, and galleries. The location was once three sunken courtyards and Buzz optimized the site whilst retaining the distinct atmosphere by seamlessly integrating with the nature that surrounds the Hermit Space.

The design studio explains, "We attempt to investigate whether other spatial categories can be inspired or filled by art and content to further extend the new forms of art space. [The project] aims to connect art spaces with nature, communities, and commuting routes, creating links between two points." The largest is the Islet Space with sloped areas of grass and a ring of skylights. The Cave Space is the second courtyard with a curved concrete roof and media space. The third and smallest is the Ravine space with a skateboard area and indoor climbing.
