Electric Arabic Branding

The Packaging for 'Habibis' Represents Its Eclectic Fusion Food

‘Habibis’ is an taco shop in San Pedro Garza García that serves a fusion of Arabic and Mexican cuisine. Recently the food shop had a new brand identity created for them by Anagrama, to communicate the bold and modern mix of flavors.

Anagrama’s creation for Habibis is just as eclectic as the food shop itself. The packaging uses a mix of traditional Arabic calligraphy, neon colours on inexpensive materials, which help to convey the casual nature of the restaurant. Patterns on the take out boxes are adapted from the keffiyeh, a Middle Eastern scarf.

Since the restaurant is based in a community with a large population of third generation Arab immigrants, it makes sense that the packaging is more Arab than Mexican. Still, the branding is fun and somehow, this curious mix of elements work beautifully together in harmony.
