Steel Latticed Abodes

The Godoy House Features a Unique Two-Volume Composition

Hernandez Silva Architects designed the 'Godoy house,' in a private neighborhood in Jalisco, Mexico.

The house is characterized by two volumes, the first being a transparent structure that features a pedestrian entrance on the tree-facing west side of the property, and the second being a stone volume for vehicular storage. The entrance platform on the first volume is raised to better accommodate for the "semi-basement" below, and the front facade is sheltered by a steel lattice that protects the home from excessive heat and sunlight.

A folding window system integrates the garden into the interior. The harmony between the indoor and outdoor spaces culminates with the presence of a large garden terrace, which acts as a unifying social sphere, communicating with the indoor dining room, as well as the kitchen and studio.
