This Photo Series Captures Fish as They Wait to Become Seafood

Former creative advertising-director-turned-photographer Gustavo Vieira-Dias skillfully captures these strangely peaceful aquatic habitats in a series of photos simply titled 'Fish Tanks.'

The photography work of Vieira-Dias consistently documents the various places where he lives. For this particular collection, different illuminated fish tanks located on the busy streets of Seoul in South Korea have been photographed. Acting as strangely miniature water oasis structures amidst a concrete jungle, this series of photos takes on a whole new meaning when you consider that these fish are actually located in fish markets for purchase to be prepared and eaten.

Despite the fact that the days of these aquatic creatures are numbered, there is still a certain solitary elegance that exists in this unconventional wildlife photo project.
