Working with the pornography website Kink.com, photographer Elizabeth Moran takes photos of the naughty film sets as empty rooms in her project 'The Armory.'
Without knowing that all kinds of unspeakable crazy sexual performances take place in these rooms, they might seem like barren spaces with questionable purposes. Sparsely furnished with hooks and ropes as decor elements, these interiors appear surprisingly devoid of any excitement, only barely hinting at the devious activities that happen when the cameras are rolling.
As an ongoing project, 'The Armory' shows how porn settings change over time as trends in pornography develop in accordance with societal desires and inclinations. In this sense, these photographs of empty rooms, without any actual porn to distract us, can be used as a way to analyze changes in illicit consumption.
