The Effect of the Internet Blackout Infographic Tracks How Congress Feels Now

This Effects of the Internet Blackout infographic by ProPublica.com reviews support and opposition to the proposed SOPA and PIPA in Congress before and after the January 18 online protests. Popular websites like Wikipedia and Reddit shut down their websites for 24 hours to protest the proposed acts that seek to prevent internet websites from hurting corporate profits through copyright infringement. Corporations that support SOPA and PIPA include Walmart, Chanel, News Corp, TimeWarner, as well as VISA and Mastercard.

As demonstrated in the infographic, at least 70 more members of Congress have stated their opposition to SOPA or PIPA, and 15 dropped their support. While there is still much work to be done against both proposed acts, it's clear the internet blackout has had considerable affect within Congress.
