Sinuous Ribbon Museums

Winding Layers of Steel Craft the Design Museum Holon

Part of the 16-year regeneration plan for the city of Holon, Israel, the Design Museum Holon is close to completion. It is the first large-scale commercial project to be undertaken by the award-winning Ron Arad Architects, and features layers upon layers of COR-TEN steel wrapping around the two main gallery buildings.

The Design Museum Holon, with its winding, sinue-like ribbons of COR-TEN (weathered steel), is not only an extremely unique and sculptural approach to museum design. According to the municipality’s managing director, Ms. Hana Hertsman, it "highlights the role of design and culture in Holon’s day-to-day life, but also the city’s influence globally."
