Festive Astronaut Installations

‘Poetic Kinetic’ Designed an Enormous Astronaut for Coachella 2014

Coachella 2014 is only halfway through and it has already offered up some amazing events and art. One of the most notable and biggest displays so far is a huge astronaut that hovers over the crowds.

The spaceman was created by Poetic Kinetic, a Los Angeles-based company that creates robot-like structures. This astronaut, called ‘Escape Velocity,’ is definitely one of its luckier creations because it gets to "see" some of the most popular bands in the world perform.

The 36-foot tall sculpture features radio-controlled animatronics that gives it the ability to make lifelike gestures like sticking out the peace sign or giving a thumbs up. It also projects video footage of the festival goers from its helmet.
