Diageo & the University of Strathclyde are Remedying Inconsistency

Diageo partnered with the University of Strathclyde to create a digital cask-filling system that has the potential to save the Scotch industry millions of pounds in inventory costs. The digitized system specifically helps to address the problem of inconsistent fills—which result in overspilling, underfilling or foaming.

With this innovative new digital system, Scotland’s multi-billion-pound whisky industry may be transformed with technology that accounts for every drop that goes into a cask and promises 99% fill consistently on a 200-litre cask in less than a minute.

As it's estimated that cask production accounts for 10% to 20% of the overall cost of whisky-making, this solution is bound to save valuable warehouse space and whisky from being wasted.
