Caroline Slotte Wood Makes Art Out of Garbage

Artist Caroline Slotte has compiled a series called 'One-to-One,' in which she creates seemingly simple everyday objects out of wood.

Objects that are supposedly made from plastic and metal are recreated into nearly identical objects made from wood. The pieces appear so lifelike that you'll need to remind yourself that lumber cannot bend, and that these are in fact not malleable objects whatsoever. According to Slotte, she distorts old material of everyday items so that they take one new meanings. As specified by critics of her work, we are left to see things that we typically would not have seen. Her pieces appeal to the memories carried in these objects that would have otherwise been garbage.

Her work plays on perception and comprehension, making us wonder what is real and what isn't.
