The Çanakkale Broadcast Tower is the pinnacle of efforts to combine a diverse range of programs within one sharp design. The Powerhouse Company collaborated with Inter.National.Design (IND) on this proposal, winning the competition to create an enormous antenna in the undulating landscape of Çanakkale, Turkey. The building had to incorporate gallery-style spaces and recreational facilities as well.
The finished skyscraper wraps around its hilltop like an orange ribbon with the two ends seeming to come together into a point that rises up to a height of 100 meters. The loopy lower level of the Çanakkale Broadcast Tower has been raised off of the ground, touching the earth and forest lightly. The sinuous structure sculpts observation decks reminiscent of a boardwalk, leading to indoor exhibition areas on the other end of the circuit.
