Barnyard-Inspired Architecture

MU Architecture's Malbaie VIII Residence is Like a Modern Log Home

The Malbaie VIII Residence designed by MU Architecture is a cozy house in Quebec that draws inspiration from the barnyard. The design makes use of cedar planks and gray metal siding that contrast in color as well as the direction they were installed. Although the house design mimics that classic barn shape, the material choices, cutouts and shapes on the house give it a modern look.

On the inside of the house, the dark tone of the concrete flooring is warmed by cozy wood cladding that wraps around the interior walls. This is continued throughout the home, making it like a modern, cozy log cabin. The house looks just as big as it does from the outside, with room for four bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom.
