Suspended Steel Bard Strutures

Steven Follen Celebrates Shakespeare With a 3D Bust Made from Stars

Steven Follen recently put together a 3D bust of William Shakespeare to honor the iconic playwright at the refurbished wing of the Stratford-Upon-Avon theatre. The bust is made using over 2,000 silver steel stars that have each be individually suspended to replicate the bard's visage. The art installation hangs against the the large white wall, creating a contrasting background to the dimensional portrait.

The installation was designed to honor the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's passing and is called, For All Time. The design pays tribute to Shakespeare through a line from one of his most popular plays Romeo and Juliet that says, "When he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine." Follen takes the line literally by recreating the bard's face from steel stars.
