The ZUK Edge Has a 86.4 Percent Screen-to-Body Ratio

The next generation of smartphones, of which the ZUK Edge is certainly a part, have their sights set on improving their screen-to-body ratio, or the percentage of the front face of the device that is taken up by a touchscreen (as opposed to the non-touch space called bezel.) The ZUK Edge, which is part of the Lenovo family of products, has an 86.4 percent ratio, giving users a massive screen considering the total size of the device.

In the early 2000s, the race in cell phones was to provide the smallest phone possible. Tech companies eventually saw the flawed logic in such a competition, as there can certainly be such a thing as a phone that's too small. The race to improve screen-to-body ratio is far more grounded in utility, however. By decreasing bezel, consumers get larger screens on smaller devices.
