Yukinori Yanagi Harbors a Colony of Ants in Country Flags

Yukinori Yanagi is a Japanese artist who's artworks have expanded the possibilities of creativity. His art takes upon political and nationalistic themes that aim to educate people on the connections and influences of the countries in our world.

As a child, Yukinori Yanagi grew up in rural Japan. During his childhood he played with ants and other insects. When he grew older and received his degree in art he decided to revisit his childhood and explore the creativity of art farms.

In the early 1990s Yukinori Yanagi devised a series of national flag ant farms. Throughout the years he has created new series and featured his best work in exhibits all over the world. His piece of Japan hit home in a recent turn of events to showcase the natural disaster that has stricken the country.
