IS by Yo Yamagata Architects is a Contemporary Abode in Japan

IS by Yo Yamagata Architects is newly completed house project in Saitama, Japan. The residence is built on only 55 sq-meters and includes a courtyard, an outside room and a terrace. The house’s facade is constructed with wooden louvers that complement the stark white exterior walls.

The house consists of three parts: slot, buffer and body. The atrium, or slot, is designed to invite light and air to flow through the house. The stairs are made of punched metal, which also helps the spread of natural light. The top of the home features windows that can be opened to act like a chimney and to further invite in a healthy flow of air.

IS by Yo Yamagata Architects is an exceptional example of contemporary, stylishly designed homes that make the most of small plots in congested, urban neighborhoods, with health and wellness in mind.
