The Brooklyn-based studio Fake Industries Architectural Agonism recently teamed up with Spanish architecture firm Aixopluc to design a versatile all-season home that provides both winter and summer lodgings. While many people purchase separate holiday homes for the summer months, not everyone can afford such a luxury. This home features two separate areas so that home-owners have the ability to vacation in their own residence.
The 'OE House' is a all-season home located in Spain's Catalonia region. The home is split into two separate sections, with the openable main floor reserved for the summer and the more contained upper level designated for the winter months. Each floor is equipped with its own kitchen, living room and bedrooms, ensuring that the homeowners have two self-contained living spaces. During the summer, the home's translucent shutters recreate the feeling of an open and airy cottage, while the upper floor's glazed walls provide additional warmth in the winter.
By incorporating summer and winter lodgings into the same structure, this home provides an affordable alternative to owning a secondary residence.
