Revitalized Reservoir Architecture

Adam Wiercinski's Water Tower 2.0 Concept Adds to an Old Prison

Adam Wiercinski's 'Water Tower 2.0' seeks to revitalize an existing water tower in Wronki, Poland. Originally built as part of a prison, Wiercinski's design hopes to restore the building to its original water reservoir purpose, while adding new cells that jut out of the circular monument. The architect's work adds stunning contrast to the previous structure.

The added space does not compromise the function of the water tower, as the exterior work is supported by independent columns. The protruding boxes can serve a variety of functions, including space for a prison cell museum, rental space, a hotel and a bar. Water Tower 2.0 is only conceptual for the time being, but will be sure to add more space without interfering with its historical character.Photo Credits: designboom, adamwiercinski.pl
