War Through Women’s Eyes

This Photo Series Depicts Various Women As They Live Amongst Devas

This collection of photographs depicts war through women’s eyes. These images were taken by female conflict photographers and compiled and published by American Photo. Photojournalists Heidi Levine, Andrea Bruce, and Kate Brooks capture moments on camera that are loaded with indescribable emotions. Seeing war through women’s eyes shows pain, perseverance and survival a remarkably brave (yet almost pleading) way.

The most unnerving theme of these images is the prominence of children. Young kids appear in several of these images and there faces are filled with fear and sadness. Photographs of war through women’s eyes are a stark contrast against the images we are regularly exposed to and—consequently—unaffected by.

These images have an emotionally strong impact on anyone who takes the time to look and see them for what they are. These photos accurately capture life, through the eyes of women who are living amongst turmoil.
