Featured on the cover of Factice Magazine is just one of the striking fashion photos from a new series lensed by Vijat Mohindra. Inside the publication is the full spread, cleverly entitled ‘Bang Bang,’ which features brawny, gun-toting men vying for the attention of a single woman.
In the photos where the men aren’t dressed in suits, they appear scantily clad in suspenders, styled to look like gun holsters, and wear not much else. This slick and stylish editorial take cues from detective cinema and film noir, creating scenes that imply a secret agent or heist theme. The blue filter that Mohindra added to this series only enhances the film quality further.
By mixing images of male comradery with others of sabotage, while also having the male models pose around their female counterpart in a sexually assertive manner, the artist exaggerates common archetypes of masculinity many are used to seeing in pop culture. More importantly, this editorial by Vijat Mohindra sells fashion in a way that is exciting, sexy and dangerous.
