Artists Join Forces to Produce Up Close and Personal Works

'Up Close and Personal' is a new exhibit that seeks to takes street art from the outdoors and displays it in a stylish NYC apartment for private viewing. The unique idea came about because the curators believe that in the inherent controversial nature and location of street art, nuance and skill are often overlooked by the average person.

"Up Close and Personal explores the craft of artists who usually work in large-scale formats outdoors," reads the opening lines of the Up Close and Personal mandate. "By challenging them to create pieces that conform to the intimacy of a residential indoor setting." The results are impressive. Transitioning these works from their natural street habitat forces the viewer to take a closer look at the work and not diminish its artistic quality, which tends to happen when people walk by street art in its normal form.

The Up Close and Personal exhibit runs from May 12th to May 15th, 2011 in the Upper West Side of New York City.
