Charred Timber-Crafted Homes

Studio Saxe Designs the Tres Amores House in Costa Rica

Studio Saxe recently completed a beautiful 'tres amores' architectural project that spotlights the charred timber dwelling framing the structure with wide views of the Pacific Ocean. The design firm was asked to create a residence for a family right on the Nosara village hilltops in Costa Rica's Ricoya Peninsula.

The home is named 'tres amores' as it blends seamlessly into its nature surroundings of mountains and the ocean. The horizontal roof planes protect the home from natural elements and provide a large terrace. The different parts of the swelling are held together with a tall vertical volume of circulation that merges with the roof lining. The colors are mainly dark with matte finishing in order to create "a dialogue between the home and its mountainous backdrop."Photo Credits: designboom
