Dramatic Skyline Abodes

The Waterfall House Offers Rural Living With Urban Views

Dick Clark + Associates designed the 'Waterfall House,' a single-family home located in Austin, Texas.

The house is located far from the hustle and bustle of west Austin; however, the architects managed to incorporate the city's impressive skyline into the design, offering homeowners a stunning view. The house balances on a raised foundation, while the main spaces are oriented towards the eastern facade in order to access the views. The architects employed material continuity to achieve a coherent transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces, laying down a tile floor that spills inside, as well as installing sliding doors that open out from the living and dining areas. The negative-edge pool works to further frame, and enhance, the skyline.

Overall, this beautifully designed house offers its inhabitants the opportunity for hybridized urban-rural living.
