The HELIX is an Expandable Self-Watering Planter

HELIX is an expandable self-watering planter created by POTR with an origami-inspired structure that grows alongside a plant as its root system develops. Designed by Andrew Flynn, the planter expands from 7 to 16 centimeters tall, increasing its capacity to hold up to two liters of soil without requiring repotting. A built-in capillary wicking system draws water from a 300-milliliter reservoir into the soil, providing consistent moisture for up to two weeks between refills. Constructed from recycled polypropylene, the hexagonal planter ships flat to reduce packaging volume and transportation emissions while using significantly less material than comparable ceramic or concrete pots.

The planter is compatible with interchangeable accessories that support different stages of plant growth. A Sprout Plate provides a self-watering setup for starting seeds, while a Sprig Plate is designed for propagating cuttings before transferring them into soil within the same expandable pot. An optional trellis extends vertically to support climbing plants as they grow.
