Data-Powered Tennis Posters

These IBM Ads Share Animated Sports Facts Based on Real-Time Events

To engage the public during The French Open (also referred to as Roland Garros), IBM created a series of smart tennis posters that were frequently updated with real-time facts and animations to go along with them.

These 'Datables' help the public catch some of the highlights of the matches in a way that's 60,000 times faster than text. In total, more than 500 digital billboards were displayed throughout France, providing meaningful data visualizations. For instance, one of the Datables showed a tennis player's serve percentage in comparison to stats from last year.

All of these real-time Datables take advantage of back-end technology in order to automatically generate these visualizations for all types of events in the tennis matches.
