Strung-Up Rock Installations

Suspended Stone Circle II by Ken Unsworth is Minimally Complex

As minimalist as the Suspended Stone Circle II art installation may first appear, it is hard not to acknowledge the complex system in which it has been created with. Yes, it is made up of only wires and rocks. But the number of wires and rocks used is impressive. Of course, not as much as the pattern in which the wires take on as they hold the stones in mid-air.

Created by Ken Unsworth, an artist based in Australia, the Suspended Stone Circle II art installation looks as though it were being pulled in two directions. Yet the stones remain in a perfect circle that hovers just above the ground. The sculpture is made up of 103 river stones and three sets of wires.
