Golden Art Installations

The Super K Sonic BOOOOUM Explores the Sonic Boom

The Super K Sonic BOOOOUM looks as though it simulates a miner's dig for gold into the earth below. Don't let its golden glow fool you though because it is an art installation illustrating the power of the sonic boom -- hence its name.

Designed by Nelly Ben Hayoun -- a recent graduate from the Royal College of Art -- the Super K Sonic BOOOOUM installation is the result of collaborative efforts between scientists, artists and performers. Open to the public, it specifically allows people to "experience the (Super K) neutrino observatory in Japan through a combination of water, light sound and science."
