The polished stainless steel water slide by design studio Splinterworks was created by layering sheets of material that have been hammered and welded together to form an incredibly sculptural shape.
The splash-inducing structure is directly inspired by surf culture. For one, the silhouette of the stainless steel water slide is made to mimic a barrel—"the hollow portion of a wave" as it begins gathering momentum until it "reaches a crescendo, [and] then circles back on itself."
Splinterworks named its sculptural creation 'Waha,' referencing surf culture's term for the natural phenomenon. In addition, due to the essence of the material, Splinterworks' stainless steel water slide will not get too hot when exposed to the sun, making Waha ideal for both the indoors and the outdoors.
