I Ashi Bionicus Shoes by Liam Fahy

Chosen from six finalists, U.K. resident Liam Fahy was the recent winner of the Fashion Fringe Shoes award. These 'ankle shoes' designed by Fahy, are from his concept line called 'I Ashi Bionicus'. Fahy says the concept places “emphasis on purity in simplicity and form through clinical colour and minimal construction.”

The shoes are comprised of high gloss plastic sections over a neoprene lining. The lining stretches as the shoe is slipped on the foot, therefore eliminating the need for typical straps or laces. The neoprene 'sock' also acts as the shoe's inner cushioning. As you can see, the gaps between the plastic pieces are located where natural foot movement occurs, making the shoe exceptionally ergonomic.

It might be the black and white colour combination and the shiny plastic finish, but I can't help but imagine hip female Imperial Stormtroopers sporting these futuristic wedge booties? As for the rest of us; I think they would look cute with a pair of black leggings.
