Google's Stair Art Shares Words from Disability Rights Heroes

Back in 1990, the Capitol Crawl became known as an event where groups of people with disabilities got themselves up the steps of US Capitol building in order to advocate the Americans With Disabilities Act—25 years later, Google is now paying tribute to these disability rights icons with stair art.

The portraits and quotes painted on the stairs feature some of the most outspoken individuals in the disability rights movement.

In addition to this awareness art taking the form of an outdoor campaign, the stair art is accompanied by a website that shows the role each person took in the movement. Google makes the most of its Maps by highlighting where each of the stair art pieces can be found throughout Washington DC, like Gallaudet University and Woodrow Wilson Plaza.
